Roch's Birthday

Today is Rochelle's (Ali's oldest sister) 39th Birthday! I remember having lunch at Mom's for Rochelle's birthday last year and somehow the infamous cinnamon story came up. For those that haven't heard the cinnamon story, it's a fond memory of Ali and Rochelle getting into a tiff (sp?) over where the cinnamon was at Mom & Dad's house and basically blowing everything out of proportion. I remember saying that I'd share a more positive memory another time. Well, now's the time.

Roch (or Roach as Ryan likes to spell it), is a great sister and friend. She is the perfect oldest sibling and has always set a very high standard for the rest of us to try and follow. She is very intelligent, dedicated, and responsible. I don't know where she finds the time to keep her house in order, her four kids in order and in all their activities and schooling, her hair and clothes always done and cute, exercise at 5 in the morning, her church duties attended to above and beyond, read the newspaper cover to cover, and still have time to go on dates, play, and participate in singing and book groups!

She can talk intelligently about many a current event whether it be local, national, or international, sports, politics, or recipes...she knows it all. She's also the master researcher. Before buying anything or going on a trip, she has read up on it and remembers it all...Consumer Reports, travel guides, library books, magazines, she's got a handle on them all.

She's fun to tease, laugh with, and talk to. We always spend more time than expected (in a good way though) when we're at her house or I'm on the phone with her because it always seems like there's more to discuss. She's truly interested in our lives and our well-being and remembers everything about you. She's also in to trying new things and adventures.

She fantasizes about being German, being the lead in a Broadway play or just a church musical, and playing football at the college or professional level. On top of that, she can do a pretty mean running man (a dance move)...Okay, Kim can too. While I don't have footage of her doing the running man, here is a clip of her dancing AND being German (and my first attempt at posting video on the blog) from her November 2007 visit to Philly.

Rochelle, thanks for being our older sister. We love you and look up to you very much! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
